What is the best color to highlight your hair?

i want to get highlights in my hair but im not sure what color. i don't want anything outrageous like pink or blue but something normal like blonde or dark brown. my hair color is dark brown in the winter but it changes to almost blonde in the summer so i don't know what color please help. thanks. What is the best color to highlight your hair?
I would use a goldy caramel color for the hair color that you described. you would be surprised how much hair color they have at the drug store! Try something like this color: (PS if you dye it and then decide you don't like that color, you can just dye it back to your origional hair color)

If your hair is your natural color then you can do this without bleach, which is what you want to do. I have med to dark brown hair and I have hi lights that turn out more of a gold color which looks really nice with darker brown hair....Because color doesn't lift brown hair to the color ton the box, a hi lift color needs to be used. So the color I use looks super blonde on the swatch, the lightest lifting tint before bleach.

But don't do it yourself because you don't have the knowledge of what color does and how to actually do the hilighting. It sounds like you are planning to have it done and that's what you should do. If you don't have a stylist find one that does a lot of color weaving.

edit....using a cap isn't always the best thing because you can't see the placement of where the color is actually going. Have a color weaving done with foils..
Well it really is kinda for your personality to you know! You also said that your hair changes colors so what you can do is get blond and black! So in the winter the will see mostly blond highlights and in the summer they will see black highlights! That is what i think!
try puting a cap on your hair an pull out a tiny section, maybe something like w your index finger, seperate the piece in half you just pulled out an bleach one side of the piece white an the other a golden red, whitch actually is a color, but this will depend on how long your hair is
I would go for a light brown, caramel, moca color. I have the same hair color situation as you, and that is what i did. i got lots of compliments, and a boyfriend :-)
Yellow,./
use gold
