Where does the dye come from that is used to color/highlight hair?

Is it all natural or chemically manufactured?Where does the dye come from that is used to color/highlight hair?
It is full of chemicals and manufactured in plants then either shipped into stores or sent to saloThis one tells you the history behind it.

Its not ALL natural unless you get liek herbal essence or somthing that says it is. It has Ammonia in it This alkaline allows for lightening by acting as a catalyst when the permanent hair color comes together with the peroxide. Like all alkalines, ammonia tends to separate the cuticle and allow the hair color to penetrate the cortex of the hair.

Unless it says on the box that it is a vegetable (natural) dye, then the majority are chemically manufactured. Manic Panic has some awesome dyes and they are all vegetable dyesns.Where does the dye come from that is used to color/highlight hair?
