How do i make a photo all black and white and highlight one color?

Wow... this questions is asked a lot!

Here's the easiest way using photoshop. Make a duplicate layer, convert into black and white, then use the eraser tool to erase the parts you want in color. Ta-Da!How do i make a photo all black and white and highlight one color?

I've seen it recommended a lot, but i've never done it. good luckHow do i make a photo all black and white and highlight one color?
Do you have any image editor program at all? If you can't get/can't afford Photoshop, you might want to look into The Gimp or GimpShop or Paint.net. They are all free OpenSource programs, and then you can try to see if you can use some of the Photoshop techniques people are recommending, some of them should work.
In most programs, effects are applied to the current selection, so select (using ';magic wand'; type selection or edge following) the areas to protect, then invert the selection (another common feature) and apply a monochrome / stauration reduce (to 0) effect.

Using layers is a more controllable way, but some cheap/free programs do not support layers.

PS. a couple of free ones to try...

Photoplus Free does offer layer support

Pixia is quite powerful too, and can be used in photo as well as cartoon applications
Read one of the many other questions on exactly the same subject asked on a daily basis on this board - and the excellent answers that have been given!
that can be tough or rather too complicated to explain here. if you have photoshop you can do it, but it's not like the click of one button, basically one way would be to take 2 versions of it, one you make black and white and the other you only keep the parts in the color you want, then you just paste the color parts on top of the black and white. but if you've never used photoshop before this is probably a little harder than it sounds to make something really nice looking if you don't mind it looking a little fake, like if you doctored it then it should be easy.

another way is to take the black and white image, and on new layers draw on top of the black and white in the color you want, then make that layer transparent you'll see the black and white underneath so it will look pretty good, i would definitely try that way you'll probably get the results you like the most.
