Of course all depends on what effect you want, but I wouldn't recommend light blonds or anything drastic. On a really dark black hair I think that auburn o dark red look great, very sexy and lively. If you'd rather have a more natural look you could work with a combination of dark to medium brown highlights.
hey...i have black hair too and want highlights this summer. you should get dark brown so theres two tones, or some cool color like realllllly dark blue or red like burgundy.

A caramel color, if you don't want it to stand out. Otherwise you can choose any color you want.
I would recommend something in the red shades
