I need help on makeup and hair. I need help on choosing the right colors for me and colors for highlights.?
I have Dark Brown hair, it looks black, but i want to lighten it up, but im not sure what color would look good. I am tan and i have bright blue eyes. I'm actually pretty happy with my current (natural) color at the moment, but I feel like just that one color alone looks a little flat, so I'm considering highlights or lowlights. I'm not sure if I want blonde, auburn, lighter or darker brown or what. I've had blonde highlights before, but those were too blonde.
I don't want anything really noticeable, just a subtle change.

I think that adding 'both' highlights and lowlights would look really amazing. I believe that if you want a subtle look then you should never go more that two shades darker or lighter.
I say go with some auburn highlights just to break up your brown a little bit and maybe a few strawberry blonde to lighten it a little...thats my 2 cents

OK i looked on your about me thing and your five other links of pictures and you are so pretty totally gorgeous and your hair is very pretty. if you really want to put highlights go for golden highlights they will add a little touch to your hair very subtle. but remember that highlights will damage your hair it might really make it dry and less shiny. i wouldn't mess with your hair. its very pretty as it is and putting some subtle highlights in isn't worth it but if you really want to golden is the way to go and don't put any low-lights in.

I've always liked the burgandy colored chunks in darker hair like yours. Because sometimes when you go to lighten hair that dark it turns a not-so-nice shade of orange! And the contrast of bleached out blonde %26amp; black hair can sometimes looks just plain trashy! So I'd stick to the burgandy. But, that's just my opinion!! Hope it helps!!

I do mine at home my self. the last time i went to the salon and had it done. I went in wanting one color which was a golden blonde with red highlightsd and i came out with Dark Brown hair. I mean dark brown. I had to color strip it and fix it. still cant get rid of the brown.

How soon can I home-highlight after home-color?
Color is waaaaay too dark....should be warm medium brown, started out almost black. I look like a bad Elvis. I color every 3 months or so, and this has never happened. I have long hair that is probably naturally lt-med brown, with a few greys. Colored with a new maple hue from Loreal on 10/06, turned out too dark. Have been washing like crazy (and deep conditioning) and it's starting to lighten up (still dark brown, but with some maple undertones). Have a huge event day after tomorrow, and with my fair skin and blue eyes, I still look like I have a goth bad dye job. If I add some carmel highlights, it will make a huge difference. Hair is in good shape. Can I do it tomorrow? Please say yes! Any color suggestions, tips or hints or tricks? I'm just going to paint it on....which is best with long hair. well anyone can say yes, but the fact is that color will not remove or lighten color that you have applied. I feel for you, and I don't mean to sound like I am trying to make a stylist or salon some money, but at this point that is where you need to go. They can lighten what you have applied to your hair, you do not want to remove it, because honestly, it will scare you to death to watch the process, because your hair will look like a carrot. Now if you go to someone who specializes in color and color correction, then that is fine, but they need years of experience in doing that, in other words some one who know what they are doing. Yes it will be expensive, but it comes down to whether or not you want it to look right and keep the hair that you have on your head and from falling out due to damage, or keeping it.
